Conductors

PETER ENGLAND

Peter is the current Program Director, a position he has held since the inception of the organization. He is also conductor of the Wind Ensemble and Beginner Band. For 32 years he worked as a band director for the Saskatoon Catholic School Board, 29 of those as director of bands at Holy Cross High School. Throughout his career, Peter has maintained a strong commitment to involvement in the musical life of the community. He has served as manager and principal bassoonist of the Saskatoon Symphony, Director of the Saskatoon Lions Band program, and a board member and President of the Saskatchewan Band Association. He has also served as co-ordinator of the Saskatchewan Band Association Summer Senior Band Workshop held in Saskatoon. He is an active adjudicator throughout the province and serves as a sessional lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan teaching Music Technology.


DOUG GILMOUR

Doug is conductor of the Jazz (Big Band) and Concert Band. He has been involved in Saskatoon's musical community for decades as a teacher, performer and conductor. He currently performs with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra, Fireside Singers Orchestra, Solstice, Trio/Jazz, and as a guest performer with several other groups. He has played and conducted musical theatre with Saskatoon Summer Players, the Broadway Bash, and Ppl 'r' Ppl Productions   


NICK FANNER 


Nick is conductor of the new Jazz Band. 
Having recently retired after 31 years of teaching elementary and secondary band with the Saskatoon Public School Division, Nick currently directs the Saskatoon Community Bands beginner jazz band as well as the Saskatoon Youth Jazz Orchestra. In addition to directing both the 2019 Regina Public Schools Jr. Band & the 2019 Regina Catholic Schools Jr. Band (the latter while adjudicating at Band Days), Mr. Fanner has also conducted the Sask. Band Association South Sask. Intermediate Band (2018) & South Sask. Jr. Band (2014). He has been a member of the Prairielands Jazz Camp for the vast majority of summers since 2002 and regularly receives requests for workshops with both jazz and concert bands around the province.
